The Orquesta Popular de Madrid de La O.N.C.E. was formed in 1939 and its conductor Rafael Rodriguez Albert joined in 1947. The ensemble consists of three instruments: Guitar, Laud & Bandurria. The Orquesta is subdivided into: guitar section with Guitar, the larger Guitarron & the smaller Guitarilla. In the plectrum sections: in the laud section there are lauds and the larger laudons, and in the Bandurria section there are: Bandurrias, the larger bandurion & the smaller bandurrin. The Orquesta is entirely composed of blind musicians. It is the orchestra of the Organizacion Nacional de los Ciegos de España (O.N.C.E.) or the National Organization of the Blind. When the orchestra recorded each member was oufitted with earphones for directions from the conductor: Rafael Rodriguez Albert. Concerts were performed regularly in Madrid and at times in Valencia & Granada.
