   Vicente was born in Guatire, State of Miranda, Venezuela in 1887. He began his musical studies with maestro Regulo Rico. By the age of 19 Vicente was living in Caracas, and a student of harmony at the Academia de Bellas Artes (today known as Escuela de Musica Jose Angel Lamas) with Andrés Delgado Pardo. By himself Vicente studied the harmony treatments of the composer from Navarre, Spain: Hilarion Eslava. Vicente's first works date from this WWI epoch.
In 1921 Vicente he was named professor of music theory & solfegio in the Escuela Superior de Musica, he was named Director there in 1936-a position he held until he died, on August 11, 1974. In 1930 along with Vicente Martucci, maestro Sojo created the Orquesta Sinfonica Venezuela.
I first heard Vicente Sojo's works in 1980 on a Diego Blanco LP. His works have also been recorded by Eduardo Falu.
