Matteo Carcassi Op. 60 25 Melodic and Progressive studies. $20.99. I used these back in 1979-80 when I studied with Byron Pang. All colleges and universities use these as building blocks for creating technique in the first year. I still use these with all my classical students, why not, Miguel Llobet taught them to José Rey de la Torre in 1932, who taught them to Byron Pang in 1966. A popular CD, by a brilliant maestro, that contains these works and more is: The first and foremost edition of these ever popular studies, which are to be found in almost every syllabus where the guitar is taught. Selected by the Examination Board of the Royal Schools of Music 2009. This new expanded and revised edition is the only publication to reconcile the early sources of these Etudes with present day playing techniques. Several earlier editions from the 19th and 20th centuries have been carefully consulted for its preparation. The main music text is beautifully engraved with a clear and uncluttered presentation of the Etudes. This edition contains a useful section on playing the Etudes with over 50 music examples, showing alternative fingerings etc. A detailed Critical Commentary as well as historical archive material completes this important vastly improved version of our highly popular 1985 edition. Highly recommended as it will meet the needs of all at whatever level.
