G.E. 15 César Bo 11 string Guitar 1955 CD $17.00
César Antonio Bo Puente was born in Villa Maria, in the province of Cordoba, Argentina on August 16, 1916. He began to play the violin and later guitar as a child, studying with his father, Emilio Bo. Emilio- a concert guitarist, had studied with Carlos Garcia Tolsa and also was a longtime student of Antonio Jiménez Manjon, the blind virtuoso from Spain, who played an 11 string guitar. César, was a child prodigy, who at 11 years of age performed in the Salon "La Argentina", on the same stage, as Miguel Llobet & Regino Sainz de la Maza would perform for their Buenos Aires audiences. The works he performed were by Fernando Sor, Fréderic Chopin, Julian Arcas, Antonio Jiménez Manjon, Gottschalk, Francisco Tarrega, Julio Sagreras & Juan Alais.
In 1928 he performed concerts of solos & duos with his father, Emilio. In 1930 he performed on many different radio stations. In November of 1930 he played a concert in the Sala Wagneriana, and it is said, in Domingo Prat's Diccionario de Guitarristas, he made his ascencion as a musician & guitarist, due to the overwhelming response of the public and press. Domingo Prat would also describe the activities of César Bo as "La escuela de Manjon" (The school of Manjon) due to the fact that he carried on the tradition of the 11 string guitar. César was of a group of child prodigies to be covered in Ricardo Muñoz's "La Historia de la Guitarra", published in 1930. The photo of César in his youth on the cover of the CD is from that very rare book.
